This Project was awarded to Shekar Engineering (SHEKAR) by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR). The Project site is located inside the Storm Lake in Storm Lake, Iowa and is identified as Little Island. The Little Island was getting eroded due to high water levels in the lake. The contract included excavating along the perimeter of the Little Island and filling it.

The scope of work also included:
- Mobilization including long reach excavator, front end loaders, barges, and tug boat;
- Building a Staging Area, which required installation of sheet piles;
- Excavation of about 4500 CY of soils along the perimeter of the island;
- Installing engineering fabric;
- Placing Revetment; solid field stone armoring- 5565 tons
- Placing 6” top soil on the island
- Seeding and rolled erosion matting
