Spedding Hall Window Replacement
This Project was awarded to Shekar Engineering (SHEKAR) by the US Department of Energy (DOE). Spedding Hall is located in the Iowa State University (ISU) campus in Ames, Iowa. The contract was for removing and replacing all 143 windows in Spedding Hall building that were installed in 1953. Spedding Hall is an active research facility, which made the project challenging. Some of the rooms have multi-million dollar equipment that are very sensitive to dust and debris. Few rooms have equipment that generate high magnetic field and attract any metallic objects that are brought in to the room. We worked very carefully by building temporary wall barriers to block off the construction area. Other challenges included public safety and equipment operation as the project is located inside the ISU campus.
